CD Projekt Red recently shared exciting details about The Witcher 4, revealing new regions and monsters in an interview with Gamertag Radio.

Exploring Uncharted Territories in The Witcher 4

Unveiling the Mystery Village and a Mythical Beast

Following the Game Awards 2024, game director Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Gosia Mitręga spoke with Gamertag Radio's Parris. They confirmed the introduction of fresh environments and fearsome creatures.

Ciri's journey will lead players to previously unexplored corners of the Continent. Kalemba identified the village shown in the trailer as Stromford, a place where a disturbing ritual involving young girls takes place to appease their deity.

This deity, revealed as the monster Bauk, is inspired by Serbian folklore. Kalemba described Bauk as a cunning and terrifying foe, sure to instill fear in players. Beyond Bauk, a multitude of new monsters await.

While eager to discuss these additions, Kalemba remained tight-lipped about specific details, promising a truly novel experience within the familiar setting of the Continent.

A subsequent Skill UP interview on December 15, 2024, confirmed that Witcher 4's map size will be comparable to The Witcher 3. Given Stromford's location in the far north, Ciri's adventures will extend beyond Geralt's previous explorations.

Enhanced NPC Interactions in The Witcher 4

The Gamertag Radio interview also highlighted advancements in NPC design. Parris noted the reuse of NPC models in The Witcher 3, contrasting it with the diversity showcased in The Witcher 4's trailer. Kalemba emphasized their commitment to giving each NPC a unique life and backstory, influencing their interactions with Ciri and others. The close-knit nature of a secluded village will play a role in these interactions.

CD Projekt Red is enhancing NPC models, focusing on improved visuals, behaviors, and facial expressions to create a more immersive experience.
