In a revealing interview with Famitsu, ahead of the PC port launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, series producer Yoshinori Kitase and game director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the story for the third installment is now complete, and the development is progressing smoothly without any delays.

Hamaguchi shared that the team began working on Part 3 immediately after finishing FF7 Rebirth. "We are on track with the schedule we set when we launched the remake project, and we're excited for fans to experience the final chapter," he stated.

Kitase, who had previously mentioned the completion of the main scenario for Part 3 before the PlayStation 5 release of FF7 Rebirth in February 2024, provided an update. "The storywriting was completed at the end of last year, and I'm very satisfied with the outcome," he said. He credited Tetsuya Nomura, the creative director of FF7 Rebirth, for finalizing the story while ensuring it respects the original while delivering a satisfying conclusion. With the surge in PC gaming, the team prioritized the PC port of FF7 Rebirth. "The gaming landscape has significantly changed, pushing us to release the PC version of FF7 Rebirth sooner than we did with the first game," Hamaguchi mentioned.
