Let's be honest, the story is cliché and predictable. But that's not why we play *Monster Hunter*, right? The protagonist finally speaks, but the dialogue feels…AI-generated. We endure this through six chapters.

The real draw is the intense monster battles. The protagonist (male or female) explores uncharted lands, spurred by the discovery of a child, Nata, the sole survivor of a tribe attacked by a mysterious "White Ghost." The attempt at drama feels a bit absurd, especially the locals' reactions to modern weaponry.

While the story is more structured than previous entries, offering more world detail, it's still not a story-driven game. The linearity can become tiresome after about ten hours. The campaign takes 15-20 hours to complete; for those focused on hunting, the story feels more like an obstacle.

Thankfully, most cutscenes are skippable. Hunting itself is streamlined. Hitting a monster reveals wounds; destroying them causes massive damage and yields parts (automatically collected—a welcome change!).

Rideable pets, like Seikret, offer significant assistance, automatically running to targets and even rescuing you from falls—a simplification that enhances gameplay. Seikret also handles navigation, eliminating constant map checks.

Fast travel is also readily available. While monster health bars are absent, Seikret provides clear status updates. Monsters utilize the environment more strategically, and pack attacks add a new challenge.

NPC or online backup is available, even in solo mode. For those seeking more challenge, mods are an option.
