Is *R.E.P.O.* Coming to Consoles?

As of now, *R.E.P.O.* remains exclusive to PC, and there's no indication that it will be coming to consoles any time soon. The game's developer, semiwork, has not announced any plans for a console version. Instead, they are focused on refining the game's multiplayer experience, which has encountered some challenges.

The primary hurdle semiwork is tackling is the enhancement of *R.E.P.O.*'s multiplayer mechanics. The game, designed for multiplayer, is grappling with the issue of hackers in matchmaking lobbies. Implementing an anti-cheat system is problematic because it interferes with mods, which the developers wish to preserve for the gaming community. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer told PCGamer.

While some PC-only games like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, they are typically single-player, which simplifies the porting process. Other games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a similar premise of evading monsters, have also stayed PC-exclusive. The developers of *Content Warning* hinted at a possible console release last year but cited technical difficulties as a barrier. Since then, there has been no further news on a console version.

So, will *R.E.P.O.* come to consoles? Currently, the answer is no. The developer's priority is resolving the multiplayer issues on PC, and there have been no expressions of interest in a console port. Console gamers eager to experience *R.E.P.O.* will need to keep an eye on future updates from semiwork.
