Path of Exile 2's endgame demands significant preparation. Fortunately, the developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign that grant permanent buffs. These include passive skill points, weapon set skill points, and, importantly, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter, which provides a substantial +10% Lightning Resistance boost. This guide explains how to locate and activate this beneficial encounter.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan are located within the Spires of Deshar map in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with their shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. The shrine's icon is easily overlooked on the map, leading many players to miss this valuable reward.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the shrine's precise location varies. However, it's always present within the Spires of Deshar. Thoroughly explore the map; you'll eventually discover a shrine resembling the image above. Activating the shrine triggers a combat encounter with metallic automatons. It's advisable to use checkpoints near the shrine to avoid re-navigating the entire map after activation.

Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan appear in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why No Lightning Resistance Increase?

Many players are puzzled to find their Lightning Resistance remains negative even after activating the shrine. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each completed Act (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).

Therefore, activating the shrine in Act 2 nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, activating the shrine increases your Lightning Resistance from -40% to -30%. To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you haven't missed the encounter.
