Iansan: The New Bennett Replacement in Genshin Impact?
Bennett has long been regarded as one of the most versatile and essential characters in *Genshin Impact*. Despite being available since the game’s launch, his relevance has not faded, and he remains a staple in countless team compositions. However, with the arrival of *Genshin Impact* Version 5.5, players are asking: Is Iansan the new Bennett replacement?
Many fans believe that HoYoverse unintentionally created overpowered support characters like Bennett, Xingqiu, and Xiangling, prompting the introduction of newer supports with more specialized roles to encourage team diversity. Enter Iansan, the 4-Star Electro Polearm character arriving in *Genshin Impact* Version 5.5 on March 26. Her kit draws immediate comparisons to Bennett’s, leading many to label her the “new Bennett.” But how accurate is that title? Let’s break it down.
How Does Iansan Compare to Bennett in Genshin Impact?
Iansan is a support character from Natlan, designed to provide ATK buffs and healing to the active party member. Like Bennett, her Elemental Burst—*The Three Principles of Power*—is the core of her support capabilities. However, the way she delivers her buffs differs significantly.
Instead of generating a fixed field like Bennett, Iansan summons a *Kinetic Energy Scale* that follows the active character. The scale increases the active character’s ATK based on Iansan’s Nightsoul Points. If Iansan has less than 42 out of her maximum 54 Nightsoul Points, the ATK bonus scales based on both her Nightsoul and ATK. If she has at least 42, the bonus scales purely off her ATK, making an ATK-focused build optimal.
One unique mechanic is that the scale tracks the active character’s movement—both vertical and horizontal movement counts. Every second, it restores Nightsoul Points based on the distance traveled. This encourages a more dynamic and mobile playstyle compared to Bennett’s stationary field.

Healing and Infusion: Where Bennett Still Reigns
Bennett’s Elemental Burst also provides consistent healing based on his Max HP, capping at 70% of the active character’s HP. Iansan offers healing as well, but it’s notably less potent in comparison. Additionally, Iansan cannot heal herself, which is another disadvantage when stacked against Bennett’s self-sustaining capability.
Another key difference is elemental infusion. At C6, Bennett can grant the active character Pyro infusion on their Normal Attacks. Iansan does not offer Electro infusion, which may or may not be a drawback depending on your team composition and elemental synergy needs.
Exploration and Gameplay Style: Iansan’s Edge
For exploration purposes, Iansan has a clear advantage. She can consume Nightsoul Points to sprint quickly over long distances without using stamina and can jump further while in this state. This makes her a powerful tool for fast travel and map navigation.
However, in Pyro-focused teams, Bennett remains the superior choice due to Elemental Resonance, which grants a +25% ATK boost and Pyro infusion to the active character.
Iansan vs. Bennett: Which One Should You Choose?
While Iansan and Bennett share visual and mechanical similarities, she isn’t a direct replacement—rather, she’s a compelling alternative. Her mobility-based support system makes her ideal for teams that require constant movement, especially in Spiral Abyss challenges where Bennett’s stationary field can be restrictive.
Her biggest gameplay advantage is eliminating the need to stay within a fixed area—no more “Circle Impact” jokes. Instead, she encourages a more active and dynamic approach to combat and support.
If you're looking to try out Iansan, you can do so in Phase I of *Genshin Impact* Version 5.5, launching on March 26. Whether you choose Iansan or stick with Bennett will ultimately depend on your playstyle, team composition, and preference for mobility or raw healing power.
*Genshin Impact is available to play now on all supported platforms.*
