Get ready to dive into the exciting world of Minnesota Whist, now available on your smartphone or tablet! This free-to-play game offers a unique twist on the classic whist, perfect for both beginners and seasoned players looking to hone their card skills. With Minnesota Whist, you can track your stats, challenge smart AIs, and enjoy a game that's both fun and fast-paced.

Minnesota Whist, popular in Minnesota and South Dakota, is a partnership game without trumps. The game's objective varies with the type of bid made at the start of each round. For a "high bid", teams aim to win seven or more of the thirteen tricks. Conversely, a "low bid" challenges teams to win six or fewer tricks. This simple yet strategic game is ideal for developing your card-playing prowess and teamwork.

Join forces with your AI partner to outsmart your opponents and reach the win target, set at either 13 or 7 points. As you play, keep an eye on your all-time and session stats to monitor your progress and improvement.

Customize your Minnesota Whist experience to suit your preferences:

  • Choose your preferred win target
  • Opt for a "set bonus" to add an extra layer of challenge
  • Select your difficulty level: easy, medium, or hard
  • Choose between normal or fast play for varied pacing
  • Play in either landscape or portrait mode
  • Enable or disable single-click play for your convenience
  • Sort your cards in ascending or descending order
  • Replay hands from the play or from the bid to analyze your strategy
  • Review previous hands played throughout the round

Personalize your game further by selecting from a variety of color themes and card decks, ensuring your gaming environment stays fresh and engaging.

Quickfire Rules:

At the start of each round, cards are dealt evenly among four players. Each player then bids either high (with a black card) or low (with a red card). The bid cards are revealed one by one, starting from the player to the left of the dealer. If a black card is turned over first, the round is played 'high', and the player who revealed the black card is said to have 'granded'. In a high bid round, the player to the right of the 'granded' player leads the first trick. If all bid cards are red, the round is played 'low', and the player to the left of the dealer leads the first trick.

During play, each player follows suit if possible. If unable to follow suit, they can play any card from their hand. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick, and the winner of the trick leads the next one.

Scoring at the end of each round depends on whether it was a high or low bid. In a high bid round, the 'granded' team earns a point for every trick taken over 6. If they fail to reach 7 tricks, the opposing team scores either 1 or 2 points per trick over 6, depending on the 'set bonus' setting. In a low bid round, teams score 1 point for each trick taken below 7.
