Hanafuda Koi-Koi: een Japanse kaartspeltraditie
Hanafuda Koi-Koi is een klassiek Japans kaartspel. Deze gids biedt een overzicht van de Engelse regels.
Koi-Koi (こいこい), wat 'steeds opnieuw' of 'kom op' betekent, is een spel voor twee spelers waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van Hanafuda-kaarten (traditionele Japanse speelkaarten).
Het doel is om sneller specifieke kaartcombinaties te creëren, ook wel 'yaku' genoemd, dan je tegenstander. Spelers verzamelen kaarten in een puntenstapel door kaarten in hun hand te matchen of uit een stapel te trekken met kaarten die al op tafel liggen. Zodra een yaku is gevormd, kan een speler ervoor kiezen om te stoppen en punten te scoren of door te gaan met spelen ("koi-koi") om meer yaku te verzamelen voor een hogere score. Individuele kaartpuntwaarden hebben geen directe invloed op de eindscore, maar ze helpen bij het identificeren van waardevolle yaku-combinaties.
