Dead Sails Kraken Boss Guide

Your adventure begins in the heart of town, across from the Gun Store and Hospital and in front of the Trading Hut. Before setting sail, it's crucial to offload any unnecessary loot and equip yourself properly. I recommend picking up a Rifle for just $75—it's a solid choice with enough firepower to fend off most threats, at least initially. Don't forget to stock up on coal to fuel your ship's old-school engine.

The next town is a hefty 10,000m away. Once you've kickstarted your journey, you can choose to stop and engage Zombies and Drowned for loot, though I wouldn't recommend it as the houses along the way don't offer much of value. To get the ship moving again, simply add more coal. Ignore the worm on the right side; it's harmless. Hold off on selling your loot until you reach the second safe zone, but be cautious of Big Foot and Zombie mobs along the riverbanks.

After the second safe zone, you'll come across burning buildings teeming with mobs. If you're in a group, clear them out, but solo players might find it a waste of time due to the scattered spawn points. At around 12,000m, you'll find a castle-like house filled with Drowned but also packed with valuable loot like Shotgun ammo—use it wisely.

Dead Sails Kraken Tips and Tricks

The core gameplay loop is straightforward: kill, loot, repeat, and hope the enemy suffers defeat. To maximize efficiency, use the boat as your primary inventory space. Clear your bag each time you return to the ship to save time and space.

A helpful strategy I've discovered is stacking Zombies near the incinerator. While it's tempting to rush out of those backwater towns, efficient loot management can make a significant difference. Running low on fuel? Just toss a few Zombies into the incinerator to keep going.

Another tip: be cautious in Sheriff's offices. These areas often have a high concentration of mobs but also offer substantial rewards in the form of weapons and ammo. I managed to keep my shotgun stocked by having a friend clear the ground floor while we explored each town.

Save your ammo, weapons, fuel, and medkits for the fortress at around 25,000m. It's under construction, making it an easy target for ambushes. I wouldn't recommend going in without at least three others; a group of five is ideal. Be efficient in picking up loot.

Avoid engaging Big Feet after 30,000m—they're tough and consume a lot of ammo. Plan your stops carefully; remember, loot isn't everything.

The town beyond 50,000m is one of my favorite spots for farming. It's packed with at least two dozen Drowned and Zombies. With a couple of friends equipped with Shotguns or a Sawnoff, it's an efficient way to gather corpses for fuel. Coordinate with your team to have bodies ready for loading.

How to Defeat the Kraken Boss in Dead Sails

As you approach the final safe zone, sell off all your accumulated loot and stock up on ammo, weapons, and medkits. Don't go easy on the Zombies and Drowned—ensure you have a minimum of 8-10 corpses for fuel during this crucial phase. At around 100,000m, you'll reach open waters and be ready to face the Kraken. The first sign of its approach is the skies darkening.

As the Kraken emerges from the water, everyone must choose a tentacle to attack. The boss has a lot of health, and each tentacle can cause significant damage if not repelled. If you have a group of five, form a pentagram-like shape and focus on your designated tentacle.

Be cautious of the water splash ability, which causes AoE damage. It's telegraphed by the Kraken winding back and creating a water trail with its tentacle. Use medkits liberally as some damage is unavoidable.

Lastly, watch out for the Roar AoE, which causes minor but unblockable damage and seems to slightly boost the boss's damage. You'll see it as white concentric circles emanating from the tentacle that used the ability.
