Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types
Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice before embarking on an Operation. With six distinct weapon types available, players can craft a character build perfectly suited to their preferred playstyle. Any combination of weapon types is permitted.
Three weapon types are melee, and three are ranged. Each weapon is customizable. New weapons are acquired by completing operations or purchasing them from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrades' weapon choices are predetermined, players have complete control over their Accessory's weapon. Weapon changes incur no penalties or benefits, regardless of frequency.
Here's a breakdown of the six weapon types:

| Light Melee | Quick attacks ideal for fast-paced combat, effective against single targets. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife. |
| Heavy Melee | Wide-sweeping attacks inflict significant damage. Well-timed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for multiplied damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed. |
| Polearm | Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for substantial damage from a safe distance. |
| Assault Weapons | High ammo capacity, making it an excellent primary weapon for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled using the Thorne for advantageous angles or safe distance. |
| Portable Artillery | High single-shot damage but limited ammo. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed. |
| Autocannons | High rate of fire with ample ammo and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, compensated by the rapid firing rate. Reduces movement speed. |
Unlike the player character, the Accessory's gun weapons have unlimited ammo.
