Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiation, mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, and the unique reward system.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies or mechanics. These modifiers might include massive rat swarms or life-draining pools of blood.

To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A circular zone will appear; remain within it to fight the summoned enemies. Leaving the zone prematurely ends the event with no rewards. A map is considered complete after all Rituals are successfully finished.

The King in the Mists: The Pinnacle Boss

The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtained from Ritual Favours, unlocks a fight against the King in the Mists. This Pinnacle boss is mechanically similar to his Act 1 counterpart. Defeating him grants two Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique items, powerful currencies, and Omen items. For practice, revisit Act 1 Cruel difficulty and fight him in Freythorn.

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a Ritual section, enhancing rewards by reducing Tribute costs, improving rewards, and increasing unique currency drop rates. Access it from the Atlas map's top-left button, then look to the bottom right.

The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each King in the Mists victory yields two skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.

Prioritize these Notable nodes: 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' for increased rewards with minimal drawbacks. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for better Omen and 'An Audience With The King' chances.

Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Successful Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-tier currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively found in Favours.

Omen Currencies: Powerful Modifiers

Powerful Omen items can significantly alter the effects of other currency items. These are consumed upon use. Examples include Omens of Annulment (specifying removed modifiers) and Omens of Alchemy (specifying added modifiers). Omens are highly valuable and often traded for other high-value currencies.

Beyond Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies like Exalted Orbs and Vaal Orbs. The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a pool exclusive to the Ritual event.
