Short Circuit Studio has just announced an exciting new update for their recently launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update deepens the game's immersive pixel-art world with a darker, more engaging atmosphere.

Even though TownsFolk is newly launched, it's clear that the developers aren't holding back on enriching the gameplay experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update introduces a range of new mechanics, buildings, and challenges. Players can now encounter roaming Barbarians, adding a thrilling element of tension to both campaign missions and Skirmish mode.

Eight new structures are being added to the mix, including the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer. These buildings will bring fresh dynamics to your settlements, allowing for more strategic planning and development.

The update also brings a splash to the water tiles with the introduction of the rare Whale, making maritime exploration more intriguing. Additionally, new Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and Shipwrecks will heighten the game's unpredictability, encouraging players to explore and uncover their mysteries.

To help players navigate the new content, a handy Compendium will serve as an in-game encyclopedia, keeping track of all the new additions. The Exploration System has been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preferred play style.
