Recent buffs introduced in Patch 8.4.0 have significantly enhanced his capabilities, making him a more formidable opponent. It's an opportune moment to delve into the most effective builds and add-ons for this iconic horror figure.

The Shape: Best Non-Teachable Build (2025)

Playing The Shape without access to teachable perks can be challenging, yet rewarding. This build leverages the power of general perks to create a formidable setup. Save the Best for Last reduces chase times by rewarding successful hits, while Sloppy Butcher slows down the game by inflicting debilitating status effects on Survivors. The endgame is dominated by Bitter Murmur and Hex: No One Escapes Death, which expose Survivors and reveal their auras, allowing The Shape to finish off any remaining players without needing to stalk for an instant down.

• Save the Best for Last (The Shape) – Earn tokens by hitting non-Obsession Survivors, with each token decreasing basic attack cooldown by 4% up to a total of 32%. Hitting the Obsession removes two tokens.
• Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – Once the final generator is completed, all Survivors are exposed and gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
• Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Reveals the auras of Survivors near completed generators for 5 seconds, and all Survivors for 10 seconds after the last generator is completed.

This build is designed to slow down generator progress and give The Shape a strong start, countering his weaknesses in the early game and limited map mobility. By focusing on controlling a cluster of generators, The Shape can utilize Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and Deadlock to disrupt Survivor progress. Lethal Pursuer helps in locating Survivors early on, allowing The Shape to stalk them effectively. Coup de Grâce enhances his ability to navigate loops, where he typically struggles.

• Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis) – Reveals the auras of all Survivors at the start of the match for 9 seconds, and extends all aura-reading effects by 2 seconds.
• Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – Starts with four tokens; hooking different Survivors on Scourge Hooks causes the generator with the most progress to lose 25% of its progress.
• Deadlock (The Cenobite) – Blocks the generator with the most progress for 25 seconds after any generator is completed, revealing its aura.
• Coup de Grâce (The Twins) – Gains tokens for completed generators, each token increasing lunge attack distance by 80%.

Lock Of Hair

The Lock of Hair extends Evil Within III by 40 seconds and increases the stalk rate for this state. While the Hair Bow is generally preferred, the Lock of Hair is a solid choice for players using Lethal Pursuer and J. Myers Memorial.

Fragrant Tuft of Hair

Despite reducing the stalking rate by 200%, the Fragrant Tuft of Hair grants infinite Evil Within III. This means The Shape can maintain his most powerful state indefinitely, allowing for instant downs without the need for stalking.
