Top Affordable GPUs of 2025: Best Value for Money

In recent years, the price of graphics cards has soared, making budget-friendly options increasingly rare. However, there's good news for budget-conscious gamers: affordable graphics cards are making a comeback. My top recommendation, the Intel Arc B580, launched at $249 and outperforms any other GPU in its price range below $300. This means that instead of settling for older, pricier models like the GTX 1070 Ti, which debuted at a similar price back in 2014, budget gamers now have access to impressive new hardware. Even a $450 graphics card like the RTX 5060 Ti is much more affordable compared to the $999 starting price of the high-end RTX 5080, making it a budget-friendly option by today's standards.

TL;DR - These Are the Best Budget GPUs:

With a more affordable price tag, you can still achieve a fantastic gaming experience, albeit with some adjustments to expectations. The RTX 5060 Ti, for example, may not be ideal for 4K gaming, but it excels at 1080p and even 1440p, making it an excellent choice for users sticking to the most popular resolution, according to the latest Steam Hardware Survey. Thus, you don't need to spend thousands to build a great gaming PC in 2025, despite the slightly higher costs compared to past years.

As a seasoned reviewer of graphics cards, I've personally tested each GPU listed here and can vouch for their performance, particularly given their price points.

What Do We Consider a "Budget GPU"?

In today's market, graphics cards have reached unprecedented prices, with some Nvidia models topping $2,000, and even budget options costing several hundred dollars. Previously, a budget GPU would cost around $200 and provide solid 1080p gaming performance in modern games, but that's no longer the case. For instance, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, which could be considered a budget GPU now, starts at $399.

It's all about perspective. With high-end cards around $1,000 and mid-range options like the AMD Radeon RX 9070 at about $449, a budget GPU falls in the $200 to $300 range. While there are cheaper, last-generation GPUs available, you'll need to make some compromises. However, models like the RTX 3060 or RTX 2060 still offer excellent 1080p performance, even if you miss out on newer features.

You might not need the best ray tracing effects, which can be a significant factor in your choice.

The Best Budget Graphics Card

### Intel Arc B580

Nvidia, for example, hasn't released a successor to the GTX 1660 Ti, leaving budget gamers with last year's models. Fortunately, Intel has entered the market with its second generation of GPUs, providing an excellent entry point for PC gaming. The Intel Arc B580 is undoubtedly the best budget graphics card in recent years.

Starting at $249, it comes equipped with 12GB of VRAM, significantly more than the 8GB found in comparable models like the RTX 4060 and Radeon RX 7600. While 8GB is sufficient for 1080p, having more VRAM is crucial for higher resolutions like 1440p or 4K. In my review, the Intel Arc B580 delivered superior performance at 1440p, largely thanks to its ample frame buffer.

Intel Arc B580 – Benchmarks

View 15 ImagesAcross eight benchmarked games, the Intel Arc B580 provided the lowest cost per frame in the lineup. On average, it cost just $3.72 per frame at 1440p, compared to $4.39 for the RTX 4060 and $4.89 for the AMD Radeon RX 7600. At its price point, the B580 offers unparalleled value for budget-conscious gamers.

Surprisingly, the B580 excels in ray tracing, performing well even in games that traditionally favor Nvidia hardware, such as Cyberpunk 2077. At 1440p with the Ray Tracing Ultra preset and XeSS set to Balanced, it achieves a solid 60fps average, outpacing the more expensive RTX 4060's 49fps.

However, being only the second generation of Intel's GPUs, there are still some bugs to address. During my testing of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the benchmark ran without rendering the gun in the player's hand. While annoying, this issue is fixable and not unique to the B580, as it was observed across other Intel GPUs like the Arc A770 and A750.

This upgrade is achieved through a larger chip with 36 compute units instead of 34, and includes new features like DLSS 4.

The highlight of this generation is the next iteration of Frame Generation, with the RTX 5060 Ti supporting Multi-Frame Generation (MFG) via DLSS 4. This AI-driven feature can generate up to three interpolated frames for each rendered frame, significantly boosting frame rates, though at the cost of increased latency. I recommend avoiding MFG in fast-paced games like Marvel Rivals where quick reaction times are crucial.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti – Benchmarks

View 12 ImagesIn my review, the Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti was approximately 23% faster than the RTX 4060 Ti across my test suite, and 43% faster than the RTX 3060 Ti. While this isn't the most dramatic generational leap, it's capable of running nearly any game at 1080p or 1440p with max settings.

Note that there are two versions of the RTX 4060 Ti: one with 16GB of VRAM and another with 8GB. I reviewed the 16GB model, but given the increasing memory demands of modern games, it's best to avoid the 8GB version.

While the AMD Radeon RX 7600 isn't ideal for ray tracing enthusiasts, it excels in traditional 1080p gaming. After all, not everyone needs the latest ray tracing tech to enjoy games like Phasmophobia with friends.

In my review, the AMD Radeon RX 7600 showed some limitations in demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077, but it consistently delivered over 60fps at 1080p in many titles. For instance, in Total War: Warhammer 3, it achieved up to 83fps. At around $250, it offers great value.

With 8GB of VRAM, it's more than sufficient for most 1080p gaming needs. The RX 7600 shines in powering popular games without fuss, ensuring smooth performance even if you occasionally need to adjust ray tracing settings. That's a trade-off I can live with.

1While the RTX 3050 is from the last generation, it remains one of the best options for affordable 1080p gaming.See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsBase Clock1507MHzVRAM6GB GDDR6Outputx2 HDMI 2.1, x1 DisplayPort 1.4aShading cores2304Compute units18PROSImpressive dual fan coolingGreat valueCONSOnly 6GB VRAMThe RTX 3050, though an older model, remains a solid choice for budget gamers, especially with Nvidia's slow release of new budget options. At the time of writing, you can find the EVGA RTX 3050 for just $179 on Amazon, making it the most affordable entry into PC gaming without resorting to used markets.

However, you may need to adjust quality settings for more demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Horizon: Forbidden West. The RTX 3050 benefits from Nvidia's third-generation Tensor cores, supporting DLSS 2.0, which can enhance performance in compatible games. Despite its name, I wouldn't recommend enabling ray tracing on this GPU, as it won't provide a satisfactory experience.

This GPU is ideal for traditional gaming and esports, delivering solid performance for those on a tight budget.

It's the entry point to mid-range performance, backed by ample VRAM that sets it apart from competitors.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT & 9070 – Benchmarks

View 11 ImagesMy review of the Radeon RX 9070 showed it outperforming the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 at the same price point, even in ray tracing-heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077. At 1440p with the ray tracing ultra preset and FSR set to balanced, it achieved 93fps, compared to the RTX 5070's 90fps.

The RX 9070's 16GB of GDDR6 memory gives it an edge over the RTX 5070's 12GB, especially as games become more memory-intensive at higher resolutions. The only drawback is its price, which is close to the RX 9070 XT, offering 4K capabilities for just $50 more. It's a small price to pay for those with 4K displays.

How to Pick the Best GPU on a Budget

Selecting the best budget GPU can seem daunting, but it boils down to understanding your needs and balancing performance with cost. Consider what you'll use the GPU for, focusing on factors like frame rates, resolution capabilities, and compatibility with your current setup. Check system requirements for specific games to guide your choice.

Keep an eye out for sales and bundle deals, as prices can fluctuate. If a new GPU is released, older models often see price drops, offering better value. Combining a quality GPU with a good deal can maximize your investment.
