How to Obtain Tier II and Fine Gear in Avowed

In *Avowed*, keeping your weapons and armor upgraded is crucial for tackling the increasing difficulty of the game. At the start, you'll mostly encounter Common, or Level I, enemies and gear. However, as you progress, you'll face Level II challenges, necessitating Fine, or Level II, gear. Here’s your guide to acquiring and upgrading to Tier II/Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*.
How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II) in Avowed
In *Avowed*, some weapons and armor will naturally spawn or be available for purchase as Fine Quality. However, many will require upgrading from Common (I) to Fine (II). Gear in *Avowed* is rated by its Quality, which is indicated by a descriptor, color, and Roman numeral. Common items, marked with a green color and the numeral I, are the starting point. Fine items, which are blue and marked with II, represent the next tier. Within each Quality level, there are three additional sub-levels from +1 to +3.
To elevate your gear from Common (I) to Fine (II), you'll need to visit a Party Camp. Each camp features a workbench where you can upgrade your equipment. You'll need to progress through the +1, +2, and +3 sub-levels first, with each requiring specific materials depending on the gear type. Once you reach +3, you can upgrade to Fine (II), which requires Adra, a rare crystal. You can obtain Adra by completing Quests, purchasing it from Merchants, or dismantling Unique weapons and armor.
Where to Find and Purchase Fine (II) Weapons and Armor in Avowed
While upgrading is an option, it's resource-intensive. Fortunately, you can also find Fine (II) weapons and armor in the Living Lands, particularly in Dawnshore, albeit rarely. These items can drop from Level II enemies, especially those labeled as Bounties. Keep in mind that using Common gear against Level II foes can be challenging due to lower damage output and reduced resistance, so stock up on health potions for safety.
Alternatively, Fine weapons and armor are available for purchase from certain Merchants in Paradis. You'll gain access to Paradis shortly after defeating the Dreamscourge-infested bear boss in Dawnshore during the early stages of the Main Quest. In Paradis, near the Bounty Board, you'll find a pair of sister Merchants. Merlylin specializes in magical items like grimoires and wands, while her blacksmith sister offers more conventional weapons and armor, as shown in the image above.
And that’s how you can acquire Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed* to stay ahead in your adventures.
