The Man of Steel makes his grand return—well, almost. James Gunn's highly anticipated Superman movie just dropped its latest trailer ahead of its July release, and it's packed with thrilling moments. From David Corenswet's compelling portrayal to Krypto the Superdog's action-packed scenes, there's plenty to dissect. But what's really got fans buzzing is just how much seems to be crammed into this film—and how it'll manage to balance everything cohesively.

"Trailer starts strong," wrote one Redditor shortly after its debut. "But then it felt like every frame introduced another new character, and I began questioning whether the story could stay focused." Another added, "He nails both Superman and Clark Kent, no doubt. But the scale feels almost overwhelming—there's so much happening."

"As someone who never vibed with DC's darker tone, this trailer got me hyped for a classic superhero experience. Still, am I alone in thinking the cameo count seems excessive?" commented another fan. "I spotted at least eight allies and villains. I get Gunn's building his DCU, but I'd rather see deeper character development than a parade of brief appearances."

Admittedly, the preview showcases Clark's adoptive parents, Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), multiple villain factions, and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). While some fret about bloat, others are thrilled by the potential these introductions bring.

Confirmed Characters in Superman:

Superman • Lois Lane • Lex Luthor • Mister Terrific • Guy Gardner • Hawkgirl • Metamorpho • The Engineer • The Hammer of Boravia • Ultraman • Rick Flag Sr. • Supergirl • Maxwell Lord • Kryptonian robots (Kelex) • Krypto • Jonathan & Martha Kent • Perry White • Jimmy Olsen • Steve Lombard • Cat Grant • Ron Troupe • Eve Teschmacher • Otis

"The complexity excites me," countered one fan regarding concerns. "We've had endless Lex/Zod battles—I wanna see him rise above true chaos." Another noted, "These aren't just cameos—they're supporting roles. Remember Iron Man's expansive cast?"

A third defended Gunn's approach: "This is standard for the genre. Films need secondary characters—he's just casting recognizable faces appropriately."

Despite concerns about overcrowding, enthusiasm remains sky-high. "Looks amazing, but how will they give everyone proper screentime?" pondered one viewer. Another responded, "This cast size matches typical comic book films—it'll work." A third cheekily referenced Gunn's past work: "Remember Guardians of the Galaxy?" Fair point.

Gunn has repeatedly emphasized this isn't an ensemble story. "Clark, Lois, and Lex anchor everything," he clarified during a 2025 Instagram Live. The challenge lies in executing that vision.
