The cameras are now rolling on DC's highly anticipated film, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. To mark this exciting milestone, DC's head honcho, James Gunn, took to Bluesky to share the first glimpse of Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. Although it's not a full costume reveal, the photo of Alcock seated in her actor's chair is a tantalizing sneak peek of what's to come.

Gunn's post on Bluesky reads, "Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El." This confirms that Craig Gillespie, known for directing hits like *Cruella* and *I, Tonya*, will be steering the ship on this project, just as we reported back in April.

While details are still under wraps, we know that *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* draws heavily from the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira. The story follows an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills. This compelling narrative was nominated for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards, making it a must-read for fans.

The film boasts an impressive cast, with Matthias Schoenaerts taking on the role of Krem, and Eve Ridley portraying Ruthye. Joining them are David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, Emily Beecham as her mother, and Jason Momoa, who has been recast in the DC universe as the notorious Lobo.

*Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* marks the second installment in the new DC universe, following James Gunn's *Superman* hitting theaters this summer. Other projects in the pipeline include *The Batman Part II*—which may or may not connect to Gunn's overarching movie-verse—and a rumored *Clayface* movie from Mike Flanagan.
