Stellar Blade DRM, Region Lock Solutions Revealed Before PC Launch

Stellar Blade's developer, SHIFT UP, has proactively addressed community concerns about the game's DRM and region lock policies ahead of its highly anticipated PC release. Dive into the details to understand how DRM impacts gameplay and what steps are being taken to resolve region lock challenges.
Stellar Blade PC Updates
SHIFT UP Addressed DRM Concerns
Stellar Blade is slated for a PC debut, and SHIFT UP has taken to Twitter (X) on May 17 to address the buzz around the inclusion of Denuvo, a form of DRM (Digital Rights Management). They assured fans that "DRM has been meticulously optimized to maintain the same average frame rate, with even higher minimum frames in certain scenarios."
DRM serves as an anti-tamper mechanism designed to thwart unauthorized game copying and distribution, yet its use, particularly Denuvo, has sparked debate over its impact on game performance. SHIFT UP countered these concerns by sharing comprehensive performance test results, demonstrating negligible differences in average, minimum, maximum, 1% low, and 0.1% low frame rates with and without DRM.
Moreover, SHIFT UP emphasized that Stellar Blade on PC will fully support mods, a feature often limited by DRM. While the community appreciates this transparency, many still advocate for a DRM-free version to enhance accessibility.
Region Lock Issues
Region lock issues have also been a point of contention, especially since Stellar Blade does not require a connection to the PlayStation Network (PSN). Despite this, over 130 countries unsupported by PSN will face access restrictions.
SHIFT UP is actively engaging with the game's publisher to resolve these region lock concerns swiftly, promising that both PC and PS5 versions will offer identical content. They are committed to ensuring "early buyers are never at a disadvantage through future updates."
While fans commend SHIFT UP's efforts to tackle these issues, a preference for a DRM-free and unrestricted game persists. Stellar Blade is set to launch on PC via Steam on June 11. Stay informed with the latest developments by following our updates below!
