New Star Wars Turn-Based Tactics Game to Be Revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025

Excitement is building for fans of strategy games and the Star Wars universe alike as EA gears up to unveil its new Star Wars turn-based tactics game at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This highly anticipated game, developed by Bit Reactor—a studio founded by veterans of the renowned XCOM franchise at Firaxis Games—has been in the works since its announcement in early 2022. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this project to life.
The first glimpse of this untitled strategy game will be shared during a live panel on April 19, 2025. Attendees can look forward to insights from the lead development team at Bit Reactor, alongside representatives from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, as detailed in the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.
While details about the game's setting and gameplay remain under wraps, expectations are high given the pedigree of its developers. Fans speculate that the game may offer a similar tactical experience to XCOM, infused with the rich lore and iconic characters of the Star Wars universe.
In other Star Wars gaming news, Respawn Entertainment continues to develop the third installment of its Star Wars Jedi trilogy, although it won't be featured at this year's Celebration. Previously, Respawn was also working on another Star Wars game, an untitled first-person shooter rumored to star a Mandalorian protagonist. Unfortunately, this project was canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA, which saw around 670 employees laid off. Additionally, Respawn recently canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter incubation project, affecting an unspecified number of team members.
Star Wars Celebration 2025 promises more than just gaming news. Lucasfilm will also preview the upcoming movie, "The Mandalorian & Grogu," set to release in May 2026, and offer a first look at "Star Wars: Visions Volume 3."
