Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'
Saber Interactive has reaffirmed that all of its previously announced games are still in active development, despite the ongoing silence surrounding major titles like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to Twitter to reassure fans that the studio remains committed to every project it has announced.
“Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world,” Willits stated. “We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share.”
The most talked-about project remains the KOTOR remake, announced back in 2021. Despite multiple changes in development teams and numerous reports suggesting delays, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in April 2024 that the game was still in active development after Saber split from Embracer Group. "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch said at the time. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."
Willits' recent statement reaffirms Karch's earlier comments, yet fans are still awaiting any new visuals or updates beyond the initial announcement video for the KOTOR remake.
In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive has a robust lineup of other projects in the pipeline. Titles such as John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for release in 2025, although specific release dates remain undisclosed. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender title. With the recent addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their portfolio, Saber Interactive continues to expand its diverse range of upcoming games.
