Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest:

To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching triggers a radio call, prompting Skif to meet Mongoose. Inside the Central Elevator, proceed left, past conveyor belts, and ascend the rusted stairs. Vault the railing to reach Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device atop a nearby silo, initiating the "For Science!" mission upon accepting his request.

Reaching the Silo's Summit:

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an exterior walkway and ladder. Descend to the silo walkways, equipping bolt protection against electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device. This attracts a Bloodsucker horde.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose:

Return to Mongoose. He'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game. Choosing the peaceful option yields the Malachite Pass and additional coupons. The pass allows access to the STC Malachite base, unless already obtained through main missions.
