Squad Busters 2.0 Hits Android Just Before First Anniversary!
Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with the launch of its monumental update 2.0 on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game has struggled to capture the audience that Supercell had hoped for. With this significant update, the developers are aiming to turn things around and breathe new life into the game.
This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two
Squad Busters 2.0 isn't just a minor update; it's a complete overhaul, essentially rebooting the game. From the mechanics of battles to the way victories are achieved, everything is being transformed.
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are based on existing characters, and if your Hero falls in combat, it's game over for you.
Combat mechanics have also been revamped. You no longer need to halt your movement to engage in combat; instead, movement and attacks are seamlessly integrated, resulting in more dynamic, fast-paced, and intense matches.
The criteria for victory have shifted as well. Instead of needing to eliminate all opponents, your primary goal is now to take down the enemy Hero. This change has sparked some debate among players, with some feeling it resembles a Brawl Stars spin-off with additional steps.
Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features
Several game modes are being removed in this update, including Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder. Additionally, some older skins and progression systems are being phased out. To soften the blow, Supercell plans to compensate players with Hero Points and other in-game items.
Check out the Squad Busters 2.0 update video below to see these changes in action.
It's clear why Supercell is pushing these changes so aggressively. Squad Busters hasn't yet reached the popularity levels of games like Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.
With the major update and the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is making a strong push to reignite player interest. They're also planning a series of daily piñata events to celebrate, which will offer opportunities to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.
You can download Squad Busters 2.0 from the Google Play Store and experience these exciting changes for yourself.
