Nintendo has announced the conclusion of regular content updates for the acclaimed Splatoon 3. While this marks a significant shift, the game isn't entirely abandoned. Holiday events like Splatoween and Frosty Fest will continue, along with ongoing monthly challenges, and weapon balance adjustments as needed.

The official Twitter (X) announcement stated: "After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. Don't worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes! Updates for weapon adjustments will be released as needed. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for the time being."

Launched two years ago on September 9th, Splatoon 3's shift to limited updates has reignited speculation about a sequel, Splatoon 4.

Intriguing in-game elements from the Grand Festival, possibly easter eggs or hints, have fueled this speculation. Some players believe certain locations suggest a new city setting for the next installment.

Responding to images of a futuristic city within the game, one fan commented, "Doesn't look like Inkopolis. Perhaps the setting of Splatoon 4?" However, others remain unconvinced, with one suggesting the location is simply a variation of Splatsville, the hub in Splatoon 3.

Although nothing official has been announced, rumors of Splatoon 4's development have circulated for months. Reports suggest Nintendo has begun work on a Switch sequel. The Grand Festival, as the final major Splatfest, further strengthens fan belief in an imminent Splatoon 4 release.

Historically, Final Fests have heavily influenced subsequent sequels. Splatoon 3's final event could hint at a "Past, Present, or Future" theme for Splatoon 4. Until Nintendo makes an official announcement, however, fans will have to remain patient.
