This seemingly straightforward approach proved surprisingly effective in the short term; however, within an hour of release, hackers had acquired and cracked the game. The absence of robust anti-piracy measures was swiftly exploited.

Sony's relatively low-key marketing campaign, coupled with system requirements revealed only a day before launch, contributed to the circumstances. Despite this, Spider-Man 2 has already secured a respectable seventh position among Sony's top Steam releases, trailing behind titles like God of War, Horizon, and Days Gone.

Initial player feedback, however, is less than stellar. At the time of writing, the game holds a 55% positive rating based on over 1,280 reviews, with optimization issues, crashes, and bugs frequently cited.

Spider-Man Remastered remains the undisputed PC champion of the series, having previously peaked at over 66,000 concurrent players. While the second game's ability to match this success remains uncertain, its current sales trajectory suggests a potentially strong performance over the weekend.
