Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Breaks Street Date, And The Physical Copy Includes a Leaflet That Gives Away Another Fan-Favorite DLC Crossover
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds’ release date has reportedly been revealed by several retailers, and physical copies reaching fans appear to confirm upcoming DLC details through a leaflet included inside — featuring one character previously unknown to us: Mega Man.
Sega announced that CrossWorlds would include a vast roster of playable characters, both in the base game and through additional DLC. Expected figures like Sonic, Dr. Eggman, Knuckles, Shadow, and Tails are all present and accounted for, but now you can also look forward to characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
What remained a surprise was that an extra Mega Man DLC would also be part of the Season Pass, but the images appearing on social media seem to confirm exactly that.
The leaflet doesn’t specify an exact release date, only offering a general "coming soon" timeframe. However, since we already knew that content from fan-favorite franchises like Minecraft and the iconic SpongeBob SquarePants would arrive in October and November respectively, it’s possible the DLC logos are listed in release order, suggesting the Mega Man DLC could launch before TMNT and Avatar Legends — potentially in January if it follows a monthly schedule.
Of course, CrossWorlds will face off against the Switch 2 exclusive kart racer Mario Kart World, which has so far avoided including guest characters from outside Nintendo’s universe. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available on both the Switch and the Switch 2, reigniting the long-standing Mario vs. Sonic rivalry as Sega’s title launches later this month.
In fact, Sega recently reignited the rivalry with a bold new trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds that doesn’t shy away from direct comparisons this week, and confirmed it will be released as a physical Nintendo Switch game with the full base game included on a 64GB cartridge.
Guys... I think Mega Man might be making an unexpected comeback...
