Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture

Fans of the highly anticipated game Hollow Knight: Silksong have a reason to celebrate. The game, which has been eagerly awaited since its announcement in 2019, will feature a playable version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This opportunity offers fans a chance to experience the game, which may differ significantly from its earlier E3 2019 demo, often described as a "proof of concept."

The ACMI is set to launch an exciting video games exhibition named Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. This event will showcase several renowned titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the Australian-developed Hollow Knight: Silksong. Visitors can expect to see exclusive custom builds of these games, along with original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects that bring the gaming world to life.

In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about including Silksong in the exhibit. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centerpiece of Game Worlds in September."

Given the scarcity of information about Silksong since its announcement, the Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI promises to be a treasure trove for fans. The co-curators elaborated on what attendees can expect, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."

While the event at ACMI might hint at Silksong's release window, no concrete details have been officially announced. The game did appear briefly during the Switch 2 Direct, confirming a release window of 2025. With the exhibit concluding in 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong might launch sometime in September or during the exhibit's run.
