Silent Hill f Gets Banned in Australia
The much-anticipated game, Silent Hill f, will not see a release in Australia due to its rating by the Australian Classification Board. The board has given Silent Hill f a "Refused Classification" rating, effectively banning it from the country.
Although the now-private publication post provided little to no detail on the specific reasons for this rating, the Australian Classification Board's website explains that "Refused Classification (RC) refers to films, computer games, and publications that cannot be sold, hired, advertised, or legally imported in Australia." This classification is reserved for materials that contain "content that is outside generally-accepted community standards and exceeds what can be included in the R 18+ and X 18+ ratings."
In contrast, the ESRB rated Silent Hill f as "Mature 17+," citing reasons such as blood and gore, intense violence, and partial nudity. The ESRB's rating summary highlighted several elements contributing to this rating, including frequent blood splatter, enemy attacks impaling the player, cutscenes depicting gore and intense acts of violence, and concept art featuring a nude mannequin.
The Silent Hill Transmission on March 13 gave fans a glimpse into what to expect from the game. With the ratings it has received, Silent Hill f appears to be one of the goriest and bloodiest entries in the franchise to date.
