Initially released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Resident Evil 6 received a remastered edition in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This new listing strongly suggests an upcoming release for current-gen consoles, likely encompassing both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, though PlayStation 5 confirmation is still pending.
Interestingly, the game's genre description has changed. Previous versions were categorized as "third-person shooters," while the new ESRB listing designates it as a "survival horror" title. This subtle shift hints at potential differences between this new version and past releases, though specifics remain undisclosed. Further details are expected with an official announcement.
Beyond this remaster, anticipation builds for Resident Evil 9, rumored to be set four years after the events of Resident Evil Village.
