Will Wright, the visionary behind The Sims, unveils more details about his innovative AI life simulation game, Proxi, in a recent Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering a deeply personal gaming experience.

A Game Forged From Your Memories

Wright's appearance on BreakthroughT1D's Twitch channel, a platform dedicated to raising awareness and funding for Type 1 diabetes research, provided a unique opportunity to learn more. The livestream showcased Proxi’s core mechanic: transforming personal memories into interactive 3D scenes.

Players input their memories as text, and Proxi's AI engine renders them into animated sequences. These memories, referred to as "mems," are then integrated into a player's "mind world," a navigable 3D space built from interconnected hexagons. As more mems are added, the mind world expands, populating with AI representations of friends and family—called Proxies.

The timeline-based arrangement of mems allows for flexible storytelling, connecting events and individuals across different memories. Remarkably, Proxies can even be exported to other game environments like Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasizes Proxi's focus on creating deeply personal and meaningful connections with memories. He humorously notes his design philosophy: "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players," highlighting the game's intensely personal nature.
