Unlike in *World* and *Rise* where you can just go to a friendly Palico NPC and ask them to whip something up for you, in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll need to prepare your own food and meals. Here are two ways you can do this:

• By cooking in your tent: Whenever you accept a new quest, take some time to prep. Go to your tent, navigate to the BBQ Menu by pressing L1 or R1, and choose the "Grill a Meal" option.
• By using the Portable BBQ Grill: You can also select the Portable BBQ Grill from your inventory, then press the square button to use it, and cook from there.

Which Meals to Cook?

In the cooking menu, you can choose to cook a recommended, custom, or favorite meal. Recommended meals are basic, using just a Ration and any additional ingredients you have. Cooking only with Rations gives you a 30-minute buff with +50 Health, +150 Stamina, and +2 Attack. Adding ingredients extends the duration by 20 minutes.

The recommended meal is a decent option and should be considered the bare minimum for your hunt prep. For those who want to customize their meals, choose the custom meal option. Here, you can select one Ration (meat, fish, or veggies), one ingredient, and your finishing touches. Rations provide different buffs like increased attack, defense, or elemental resistances, while ingredients and finishing touches enhance your meals with additional benefits like better gathering or reduced damage taken.

Once you've made your decision, start cooking, and your Hunter will automatically eat, setting you up for success.
