What's the Riding Turtle?

Recent WoW updates have opened opportunities for players to obtain exotic mounts, including the Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle. These are acquired through a unique fishing method. It's important to note that these methods may be adjusted by Blizzard in future updates, so act quickly!

The Angling Approach

Hidden within your garrison's waters lies a treasure. Alliance players target Lunarfall Carp, while Horde players seek Frostdeep Minnows, both caught at your fishing shack. Returning these fish to the water summons the Lunarfall/Frostdeep Cavedweller, from which the mounts drop.

This requires the Draenor Angler achievement (catching 100 of each Enormous Fish species in Warlords of Draenor). This unlocks a level 3 garrison fishing shack, crucial for catching the carp and minnows (which have a notoriously low 3% drop rate). Improving your gear and using boosts can increase your chances.

Why Now? The Power of the Group

Previously, only the player who tagged the Cavedweller received the mount. Now, raid groups of up to 40 players can share the loot, dramatically increasing your odds. The combined drop rate is significantly higher than the previous individual 3% (fishing) and 0.5% (Cavedweller) chances.

While you don't need the Draenor Angler achievement to join a raid, demonstrating your fishing ability is advantageous. Groups may prefer players who can contribute, rather than those who simply leech loot. Finding a welcoming group or forming your own is highly recommended.
