Krafton and Pocket Pair are joining forces to bring the monster-catching game, Palworld, to mobile devices. Krafton, known for PUBG, will leverage its expertise to adapt Palworld's core gameplay for mobile platforms through its subsidiary, PUBG Studios. This collaboration signifies an expansion of the Palworld intellectual property.
While excitement is high, details about the mobile version remain scarce. The original Palworld game launched on Xbox and Steam in January, later arriving on PlayStation 5 (excluding Japan). The Japan-specific delay is reportedly linked to an ongoing legal dispute between Nintendo and Pocket Pair, concerning potential patent infringement related to the game's mechanics, specifically the way players "throw" their Pal companions. Pocket Pair denies any knowledge of the specific patents in question.
Krafton's involvement is crucial, given Pocket Pair's current focus on developing the existing game. However, the mobile project is likely in its early stages.
