Origin Millennium PC Review
When you're in the market for a gaming PC, you're faced with several options. You can go for a mass-produced prebuilt system from brands like Alienware, or you might splurge on a high-end boutique build. The Origin Millennium strikes a balance between these two extremes. It's an exceptionally powerful gaming system, yet it doesn't boast the extravagant design flair you'd find in builds from Maingear or Falcon Northwest.
The Origin Millennium is essentially a top-tier custom-ordered gaming rig that uses standard components. It's something you could technically build yourself, but without the hassle of cable management and assembly. Just be prepared to possibly lug a hefty wooden crate up to your apartment, as I did.
Purchasing Guide
While the Origin Millennium starts at $2,788, this base model features an Intel Core i5-14600K without a dedicated graphics card, making it not worth the price. However, the real strength lies in the customization options available on Origin's website, where you can tailor the system to your needs. Remember, the more powerful the configuration, the higher the cost.

Design and Features
The Origin Millennium is a substantial machine housed in a full-tower ATX case, made even more imposing by steel bars on all four corners. The case alone weighs 33 pounds, and that's before adding heavy components like the MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio, a robust power supply, and a 360mm AIO. The wooden shipping crate adds to the overall heft, making it a challenge to transport to upper floors.
The corner metal bars pose a unique challenge when accessing the system. While the configuration I reviewed won't need upgrades for years, occasional maintenance is still necessary. Removing the glass side panel can be tricky due to the metal bar obstructing it, which can be unnerving. Fortunately, these bars are removable with allen bolts, though it adds an extra step.
Once inside, the spacious interior accommodates even large components like a 14-inch graphics card, with ample room for excellent airflow. Origin excels in cable management, keeping wires neatly arranged behind the motherboard tray and channeled through grommets. However, an unusual choice was made to route the front intake fan and front panel connector wires underneath the case, creating a visible bundle outside the system. This unconventional approach to cable management is both innovative and risky.
The front ports and power button can be mounted either on the top or bottom of the case. The system I reviewed had them on the bottom, which is ideal for desk setups, but the flexibility to mount them on top is great for those placing the PC in a living room or under a desk. The front panel offers four USB-A and one USB-C port, while the back features four USB-C, six USB-A, two Ethernet, and an HDMI port for onboard graphics. The RTX 5090 includes three DisplayPort and one HDMI, standard for Blackwell GPUs.
All in the Configuration
The configuration I reviewed might be overkill for most users, but Origin PC allows you to customize your system. You could opt for the $7,241 high-end configuration for a rig that will last years, or choose a more budget-friendly setup. A sweet spot for many might be an AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, 32GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, which supports 4K gaming for $3,392. Building this mid-range version yourself would cost around $2,397, meaning you're paying roughly a thousand dollars for Origin's assembly.
For the high-end configuration, you could assemble it with off-the-shelf parts for about $6,506. The premium for Origin's assembly is significant, but it comes with a standard one-year warranty and lifetime support. Origin even offers free system upgrades if you cover the cost of new parts. The unique wooden shipping crate, while heavy, provides unparalleled safety in transit.
Whether the extra cost is justified depends on your comfort with building and maintaining a PC, and your willingness to invest time in doing so. Origin's excellent cable management is a notable advantage.
Performance
The Origin Millennium I tested, equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and 64GB of RAM, is a powerhouse. At 4K resolution, nearly every game exceeded 100 fps without frame generation. Only two games fell short: Assassin's Creed Shadows at 75 fps and Metro Exodus at 97 fps. The latter is understandable given its ray tracing demands without upscaling.
For Assassin's Creed Shadows, 75 fps is still highly playable, but enabling frame generation boosts it to 132 fps, though with increased latency from 33ms to 42ms. This latency increase might not be noticeable to most, especially in single-player games.
Cyberpunk 2077, tested with Ray Tracing Ultra and DLSS in performance mode, achieved 127 fps with 23ms latency. With 4x Multi-Frame Generation, the frame rate soared to 373 fps, with latency only rising to 28ms, surpassing what most monitors can display.
Even without frame generation, the Origin Millennium delivers exceptional performance, ensuring you won't need to compromise on image quality for any current games.
