Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay footage of its highly anticipated 2026 action game, *Onimusha: Way of the Sword*. Not only did they reveal more about the game, but they also confirmed that the protagonist will be none other than the legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi.

During the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom showcased a new trailer that provided a fresh look at the gameplay of *Onimusha: Way of the Sword*. Although the release is set for 2026, the game promises stunning sword-based action and encounters with formidable enemies.

*Onimusha: Way of the Sword* will feature Miyamoto Musashi, a renowned Japanese swordsman whose legendary skills with the blade are brought to life in the game. Musashi's character not only showcases unparalleled swordplay but also exhibits a roguish and comedic side, adding depth to his persona.

According to Capcom's press release, *Onimusha: Way of the Sword* is described as a dark fantasy action game that stars one of Japan's most famous historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's face in the game is modeled after the late Toshiro Mifune, the iconic Japanese actor known for portraying Musashi in samurai films.

The game is set in a Kyoto that has been overtaken by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning Hell and its denizens into Japan. *Onimusha: Way of the Sword* marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in twenty years. To build excitement, Capcom has also announced the release of a remastered version of *Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny*, set to launch on May 23, 2025, to prepare fans for the upcoming game.
