Bethesda Confirms No Mod Support for Oblivion Remastered

Bethesda recently held a livestream unveiling The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, confirming its immediate availability. The developers highlighted significant enhancements over the original version. However, the absence of mod support has left many fans disappointed.

According to Bethesda’s official support page, Oblivion Remastered will not include official mod support. No explanation was provided for this choice, which is surprising given Bethesda’s history of supporting modders with tools like the Creation Kit for titles such as Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Starfield.

Despite this, dedicated fans are adapting by using the original game’s Creation Kit. Mods are currently functional in the remaster. On Reddit, modders are discussing ways to work with the game’s new Unreal Engine 5 framework.

Oblivion Remastered Explored in VR

Even without official mod support, fans have tested Oblivion Remastered in VR using UEVR just hours after release. UEVR is a tool that adapts games for VR compatibility. YouTuber LunchAndVR shared a video showcasing early tests of the game in VR with UEVR and motion controls.

The gameplay ran smoothly at 70 fps on medium settings with DLSS, using a GeForce RTX 4090, Intel Core i9-13900, and 64GB RAM. This suggests that with further optimization, Oblivion Remastered could excel in VR.
