The evidence suggesting this innovative feature was brought to light by Famiboards user LiC, who has been digging into Vietnamese customs data related to shipments from a company believed to be one of Nintendo's parts suppliers. In early January 2025, LiC shared another piece of potential insight into the upcoming device. They revealed the discovery of polyethylene (PE) plastic adhesive tape in the customs manifests, specifically described as being intended "to stick to game console handles." These tape pieces were labeled as "mouse soles," a term commonly associated with the bottom part of a computer mouse. The presence of mouse soles in a potential Switch 2 parts list hints that the new console might incorporate mouse-like functionality.

LiC found references to two specific mouse sole model numbers: LG7 and SML7. These designations were not found in any public component databases, suggesting they could represent entirely new products. The data indicates that these plastic tape pieces measure 90 x 90mm.
