Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Mouse Theory Is Looking Pretty Good Right About Now
The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal this morning lends significant credence to earlier rumors about Joy-Con mouse functionality.
The reveal trailer shows detached Joy-Cons placed attachment-side down on a surface, connecting to flat-bottomed connectors. These then move across the surface like a mouse on a mousepad. A possible slider pad is visible on one connector, further supporting the theory.
Pre-reveal speculation centered on a sensor inside the Joy-Cons, similar to those in computer mice. However, Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed this feature or its implications. While some envision its use in traditionally mouse-and-keyboard games like Civilization, others anticipate innovative applications within first-party Nintendo software. The possibilities remain open.
