Nintendo has recently announced the pricing for upgrading two popular Switch games to their Switch 2 Editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. Fans should brace themselves, as the cost is significantly higher than expected.

For comparison, upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from their original Switch versions to the Switch 2 Edition costs $9.99 each. However, NintendoLife has revealed that the upgrades for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double that amount.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild includes improved visuals and performance, achievements, and support for the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version of Breath of the Wild can purchase an "upgrade pack" for $10 to enjoy these enhancements.

The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content in the Star-Crossed World. Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 Edition features a new suite of content called Jamboree TV, which leverages the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera, available separately. This edition also offers upgraded resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, a better frame rate, new minigames, and enhanced online functions.

Although U.S. prices are not yet listed on the American Nintendo eShop, potentially due to uncertainties surrounding President Trump's tariffs, the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack at £16.99 / €19.99, more than double the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.

The Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition ＋ Jamboree TV upgrade is priced similarly at £16.99 / €19.99, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99. This higher upgrade cost may be linked to the $80 price tag of the full Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, which are $20 more than their original Switch counterparts at $59.99 each.

For those not opting for an upgrade, here are the U.S. prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games:

It's worth noting that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no additional cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. Unfortunately, there is no similar offer for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Party Jamboree at this time.

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders became available on April 24, with the console priced at $449.99. The response was as overwhelming as anticipated, and Nintendo has warned U.S. customers who pre-ordered through the My Nintendo Store that delivery by the release date is not guaranteed due to high demand.
