Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Get ready for a blast from the past! Nintendo has just revealed its latest collaboration with LEGO – a buildable LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES set.
The announcement on X (formerly Twitter) sparked a flurry of excitement, but also a wave of playful comments about the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Many joked that the LEGO Game Boy announcement was a clever (and slightly delayed) way to reveal the next console. While Nintendo remains tight-lipped on Switch 2 details, President Furukawa previously stated a reveal would happen within their fiscal year (ending March 2025).
Pricing details for the LEGO Game Boy are yet to be revealed, but more information is promised in the coming weeks.
A History of Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations
This isn't Nintendo's first foray into the world of LEGO. Previous collaborations have brought iconic characters from beloved franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda to life in brick form.
Last year, a stunning 2,500-piece LEGO set featuring the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild was released, complete with Princess Zelda and the Master Sword. This set retails for $299.99 USD.
Following closely behind, a unique Super Mario and Yoshi set showcasing their classic sprite art from Super Mario World was launched at $129.99 USD. This innovative set uses a crank mechanism to animate Yoshi's leg movement.
