Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel

During the NieR 15th Anniversary livestream on April 19, Square Enix unveiled a range of exciting projects to commemorate the milestone. One of the key announcements was the launch of an online special novel titled "[U]ndecided Option." This novel will be released in three updates, with the first already available and the subsequent two scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis teases an intriguing plot: "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."

To accompany this announcement, Square Enix introduced the NieR 15th Anniversary website, which will serve as the central hub for the online novel and other upcoming events and projects related to the anniversary celebration.

Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More

Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from NieR: Replicant, NieR: Automata, and NieR Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and further information will be released soon.

The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 will also expand with additional performances in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets for these concerts are available through a lottery system, and more information can be found on the concert's official website.

Furthermore, Square Enix announced a variety of upcoming merchandise, including an album featuring newly recorded jazz arrangements from the NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin' or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Fans can also look forward to the NieR Weapon Story book, which will include over 650 stories about weapons from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, as well as scale figures of the NieR series protagonists.

Re[in]carnation Developer Blog

Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will feature a monthly developer blog throughout the year. These updates will provide insights into the development process behind Re[in]carnation, which was initially released in January 2021 and shut down in April 2024 due to monetization issues.

The introduction of the developer blog has sparked speculation among fans about a potential sequel or remake of the game, although no official announcements have been made yet.
