Newly Uncovered Screenshots From Life By You Dropped by Ex-Devs

Recently surfaced screenshots offer a poignant reminder of Paradox Interactive's cancelled life simulator, Life by You. These images, compiled from the online portfolios of former developers, showcase the game's considerable progress before its untimely demise.
Life by You's Cancellation: A Second Look
Fans Praise Visual and Character Model Enhancements
Following the cancellation announcement, new screenshots of Life by You have appeared online, courtesy of former artists and developers including Richard Kho, Eric Maki, and Chris Lewis. These images, shared on Twitter (X) by @SimMattically and on the developers' personal websites and GitHub accounts (where Chris Lewis detailed animation, scripting, lighting, mod tools, shaders, and VFX work), provide a more detailed look at the game's potential.
While not drastically different from the final gameplay trailer, the images highlight significant improvements. Fans have expressed their disappointment at the cancellation, emphasizing the game's potential for greatness. The screenshots reveal refined character customization with advanced sliders and presets, intriguing outfit combinations suitable for various seasons, and a more atmospheric and detailed game world than previously showcased.
Paradox Interactive's Deputy CEO, Mattias Lilja, explained the cancellation, citing delays due to "key areas" requiring further development. He stated that the path to a satisfactory release was deemed too lengthy and uncertain. CEO Fredrik Wester echoed this sentiment, acknowledging the team's hard work but concluding that continued development wouldn't yield a sufficiently polished product.
The cancellation surprised many, given the considerable anticipation surrounding Life by You, a PC title intended to compete with EA's The Sims franchise. The abrupt halt in development resulted in the closure of Paradox Tectonic, the studio responsible for the project.
