Netflix has exciting news for fans of the acclaimed video game Sifu. The streaming giant has partnered with the game's creators to bring its intense narrative to the big screen. Announced back in 2022, the film adaptation initially involved Story Kitchen and Sloclap, the game's developer. However, recent updates from Deadline reveal that the production team has grown considerably.

T.S. Nowlin, the talented screenwriter behind the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, has been enlisted to craft the screenplay for Sifu. While Derek Kolstad, who was initially involved in adapting the game's story, may still have a role, his current involvement remains uncertain.

The project boasts an impressive lineup with Chad Stahelski, the visionary director of the John Wick series, joining as an executive producer. His production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, will also contribute to the film. Stahelski is simultaneously working on another highly anticipated video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.

Sifu, released in 2022, became an instant success, selling over one million copies in just three weeks. The game centers on a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them after death but ages them significantly, the protagonist navigates a perilous world filled with danger and intrigue.
