MultiVersus presented two last characters while fans threaten game developers
MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale for the gaming industry, a case study in potential unrealized, comparable to the infamous Concord debacle. Despite its impending closure, the game's final chapter is unfolding with the reveal of two highly anticipated characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.
This announcement, however, hasn't been met entirely with celebration. Significant fan frustration has surfaced, with some resorting to threats against the development team. In response, MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh issued a heartfelt statement, pleading with players to refrain from such behavior.
Huynh offered an apology to fans whose desired characters didn't make it into the game, expressing hope they'll still find enjoyment in the final Season 5 content. He also explained the complex factors influencing character selection, emphasizing his own limited control over these decisions, contrary to some fans' perceptions.
The game's shutdown has further fueled discontent, particularly regarding the inability to spend in-game tokens on the promised new characters for purchasers of the premium $100 edition. This unfulfilled promise may have contributed to the escalating threats.
