Moon Knight to Return, No Season 2 Planned, Says Marvel Exec

Exciting news for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Moon Knight, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, is set to make a comeback, but not in the form of a second season of the Disney+ series. In a recent chat with ComicBook, Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, shed light on the future of the beloved character. While a second season of Moon Knight seems off the table, Winderbaum assured fans that more adventures await Moon Knight, just in a different format.
Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Initially, the studio aimed to introduce characters through their own TV shows, setting the stage for their involvement in future projects. A prime example is Kamala Khan's journey from her Disney+ show, Ms. Marvel, to starring in The Marvels. However, Marvel Television is now adopting a more traditional TV model, focusing on annual releases that stand on their own.
Winderbaum elaborated on this change, stating, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."
While Oscar Isaac lent his voice to Moon Knight in the third and final season of the Disney+ animated series Marvel’s What If…?, details on his return in live-action are yet to surface. Meanwhile, Marvel's upcoming TV lineup on Disney+ is packed with anticipation, featuring Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December.
In other news, Marvel Television recently hit pause on the development of three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, there's a glimmer of hope for fans of street-level heroes as Winderbaum hinted at potential plans to bring back the iconic team known as The Defenders, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.
