Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds is likely a typo) have been addressed by Director Yuya Tokuda. Unlike Monster Hunter: World, where weapon designs largely retained a base form with variations based on monster materials, Monster Hunter Rise features uniquely designed weapons.

Tokuda stated that while Monster Hunter: World weapons often shared similar base designs, Monster Hunter Rise deviates from this approach. This contrasts with Monster Hunter: World, where even upgraded weapons sometimes retained noticeable similarities. For example, the final Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the final Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords, shared striking resemblances. (See image below).
