Milly Alcock, known for her portrayal of the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the acclaimed "Game of Thrones" spinoff, "House of the Dragon," faced a challenging start to her journey. The Australian actress, who has also been cast as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in the upcoming Superman movie and "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," shared a daunting experience from her second day on the set of the series. She revealed that a high-ranking individual on the production suggested she undergo acting coaching.

During an appearance on "The Tonight Show," Alcock recounted the moment: "On my second day on House of the Dragon, one of the, I’m not gonna say who, but someone very high up, pulled me aside and was like, 'Um, we’re gonna get you an acting coach.'" She admitted feeling "mortified" by the suggestion. Despite this, Alcock humorously reflected on how the incident grounded her, saying, "It just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, [which] is that I’m not very good at my job," she jested, adding, "You know what I mean! I was like, 'I can’t do this. This is terrible. This is a big mistake.'"

In "House of the Dragon," Alcock portrayed King Viserys I Targaryen's daughter and heir as a series regular in Season 1 and made a guest appearance in Season 2, which explores the decline of the House Targaryen. The role of the adult Rhaenyra is played by Emma D’Arcy, who depicts her transition to Queen.

The series debuted in August 2022, shortly after the conclusion of the original "Game of Thrones." "House of the Dragon" quickly secured a renewal for a second season just days after its premiere and later received a Season 3 renewal in June 2024, before Season 2 even began. The show's success was further cemented when it won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series — Drama.
