Mastering the Parabolic Microphone in Phasmophobia: A Guide
In *Phasmophobia*, the Parabolic Microphone stands out as a crucial piece of equipment for tracking down those elusive ghosts. If you're new to this tool, here's a comprehensive guide on how to unlock and effectively use the Parabolic Microphone in your ghost-hunting adventures.
How To Unlock Parabolic Microphone in Phasmophobia

The Parabolic Microphone falls under Optional Equipment in *Phasmophobia*, meaning it's not automatically available for your character. To add it to your arsenal, you'll need to reach certain levels and purchase it through the in-game Shop.
The Parabolic Microphone comes in three tiers, each more advanced than the last. Unlocking the first tier requires you to reach Level 7. Once you're there, head to the shop to add it to your equipment loadout, as shown in the images above.
To unlock the second tier, you'll need to reach Level 31, which will cost you $3,000 to upgrade. The third and final tier becomes available at Level 72, with an upgrade cost of $5,000.
After unlocking these tiers, you can select any version of the Parabolic Microphone for your loadout, with the option to include up to two microphones, regardless of your party size.
Keep in mind that if you decide to Prestige your character, which resets your level to 1, you'll have to unlock each tier of the Parabolic Microphone all over again, along with all your other equipment.

How To Use Parabolic Microphone in Phasmophobia

To use the Parabolic Microphone during your ghost-hunting contracts, you must first include it in your loadout through the Shop portal. This ensures it's available in the truck when you arrive at the haunted location. Note that in Challenge Mode, the preset loadout might not include the Parabolic Microphone.
Once on site, select the Parabolic Microphone from the equipment wall in the truck to equip it, similar to other items. Use the designated button to activate or deactivate it. If you're using the tier 3 version, you can utilize the attached radar screen to pinpoint the direction of the sounds, as demonstrated in the image above.

The Parabolic Microphone is particularly beneficial on medium or large maps in *Phasmophobia*. It allows you to locate the ghost by listening for sounds such as objects being moved, doors creaking, or the ghost's voice, rather than relying solely on the temperature gauge or EMF Reader.
Besides aiding in locating the ghost, the Parabolic Microphone can help you complete Optional Objectives, such as capturing the ghost's voice. Additionally, certain ghosts like the Deogen or Banshee produce unique sounds that only the Parabolic Microphone can detect, providing crucial clues for identifying these spirits.
That covers everything you need to know about using the Parabolic Microphone in *Phasmophobia*. For the latest guides, news, and insights on the game, including how to unlock all achievements and trophies, be sure to visit The Escapist.
Phasmophobia is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
