Team-Up Skills: A New Era

Game Director Guangyun Chen confirmed significant changes to team-up skills in a March 14th interview with PC Gamer. He revealed that Season 2 will introduce fresh team-up skills alongside adjustments to existing ones. These changes, combined with overall balance updates, promise a completely refreshed combat experience.

Currently, the game boasts 17 team-up skills—examples include Ragnarok Rebirth (Hela, Loki/Thor), Lunar Force (Cloak & Dagger, Moon Knight), and Allied Agents (Hawkeye, Black Widow). Balancing these skills with the growing hero roster will be a significant challenge for NetEase.

Hero Balancing: A Continuous Process

Chen detailed the balancing strategy for Marvel Rivals' expanding roster. The team meticulously monitors key metrics in Quick Match and Competitive modes, including win rates, pick rates, damage dealt and received, and final blows across various ranks and tournaments. This data informs their balancing decisions. Further analysis focuses on hero lineup compositions and win rates, providing crucial context for overall balance adjustments. Crucially, player feedback also plays a significant role in shaping these adjustments.

Chen previously stated (Metro interview, January) that a new hero will launch every half-season. With three-month seasons, this translates to eight new heroes annually. Maintaining balance with this rapid expansion will be a considerable ongoing effort.

He confirmed that Season 2 content is finalized, with Seasons 3 and 4 currently in intensive development. This aligns with NetEase's commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for at least 10 years.

Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Arrive March 20th

NetEase's March 18th announcement on the official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account confirmed the arrival of new skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man on March 20th at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21st at 2:00 AM UTC.

Spider-Man's "Spider-Punk 2099" skin boasts a futuristic look, complete with a digital mask, spiked mohawk, and electric guitar. Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin adopts a steampunk aesthetic, featuring large exhaust pipes and a burning furnace on his chest.

Both skins were previously available during the game's closed beta. Following the recent release of Loki's Presidential attire (also a beta skin), these additions will be highly anticipated. Pricing details for these new skins remain unannounced.
