NetEase Games, the developer behind Marvel Rivals, has responded to community feedback just days after fans initiated a Support strike, aiming to alleviate some of the pressures faced by Strategists players. The release of Season 2 has been largely successful, introducing new characters, maps, and modes, and promising more frequent updates and an expanding roster of playable heroes. However, the balance changes implemented have shifted the dynamics in favor of Vanguards and Duelists, leaving the Support class, known as Strategists, feeling underpowered and overwhelmed.

The diminished effectiveness of the Support class has sparked intense discussions within the Marvel Rivals community since the debut of Season 2. As Vanguards and Duelists dominate the battlefield, many Strategists have endured not only challenging but also toxic gameplay experiences, with teammates often blaming them for losses in chat. NetEase intends to elevate the "threat levels" of Strategists in an upcoming patch. This could involve boosting the capabilities of heroes like Invisible Woman or Jeff the Land Shark, while simultaneously reducing the survivability of Vanguards such as Captain America and Groot. Additionally, Spider-Man's Amazing Combo ability will see a reduction in its damage range. The specifics of which characters will be adjusted remain undisclosed.

"As this is a mid-season balance adjustment, we aim to be cautious, making minimal changes to enhance the experience of certain heroes without significantly shifting the overall meta," NetEase stated. "With the arrival of Ultron and new Team-Up Ability adjustments in S2.5, we will consider more extensive balance changes."

Competitive mode in Marvel Rivals has also seen modifications since Season 2 began. Duelists have enjoyed an edge in performance ratings, while Vanguards and Strategists have lagged behind. To rectify this, NetEase plans to recalibrate performance rating calculations to promote fairness among all hero classes.
