Leaks Excite Battlefield Fans; EA Yet to Respond
Despite requiring players to sign NDAs to prevent details of EA's upcoming untitled Battlefield game from leaking online, the information leaked online anyway. Dozens of videos and screenshots have surfaced, showcasing what participants in the game's closed playtesting have been experiencing.
As we reported when the leaks first appeared, the footage seems to confirm the "modern" setting previously teased by Vince Zampella, setting it apart from other entries in the Battlefield series. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals numerous firefights, glimpses of the game's destructible environments, and several new mechanics, such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates out of harm's way.
Surprisingly, EA appears to be taking minimal action against these leaks. Typically, publishers are quick to protect early footage due to the potential for incomplete animations, unfinished UI, and subpar graphics. However, despite players breaching confidentiality agreements by sharing videos and screenshots, EA has not issued any takedowns.
This leniency might be due to the positive reception the leaks have received, in contrast to Battlefield 2042's lukewarm reception. Fans seem pretty pleased with what they've seen so far.
One player said, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" Another added, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me."
Another enthusiastic player exclaimed, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!"
Someone else opined, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."
EA expects its next Battlefield game to launch in the fiscal year 2026, which means a release window between April 2025 and March 2026. Following our first official unveiling just last month, it's now confirmed that the new Battlefield will feature the return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a feature that was missed in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
